Good day, welcome to the next scene.
Today we find ourselves in the small but idyllic village of Coo, Belgium.
I like to call it the gateway to the Ardennes Forest, located in the Wallonia region, in the south of Belgium.
The village of Coo is very small, but is packed with activities and sights.
The Ardennes landscape around Coo is impressive, as Belgium is part of the low countries of Europe.
The oldest mention of Coo dates from 1307.
Coo is famous for its 2 large waterfalls, with a height of about 15 meters.
In the early 19th century, monks from a nearby abbey supplied a 15th-century watermill with water, the diversion would become the origin of the falls today.
Tourism began to grow and an amusement park was built in the 20th century.
The park was sold in 2005 and is now called Plopsa Coo.
Coo is also a place for people who enjoy a bit of adventure, such as kayaking, forest hikes, ziplining or taking a seat in the 700-metre chairlift.
An artificial water reservoir has been created around Coo that supplies power to the nearby hydroelectric power plant.
The underground construction of most of the plant’s structures has secured the beauty of the landscape.
Like i said, Coo looks like a small village, but with enough reasons to make it worth it.
I hope you enjoy the walk as much as i did.
Thanks for watching, take care and see you on the next (and last) Belgian walk.
