Hello dear Scene Walker
Welcome to Langinkoski, Kotka National Urban Park in Finland.
The area is famous for its whitefish and salmon fishing, so much so that it became the favorite summer leisure of Russia’s Imperial family, as it counterbalanced to the splendor of strict court etiquette.
The area now known as Langinkoski “Lang’s rapids” has a long fishing tradition dating back centuries before the Imperial family.
During the 15th century the rapids formed as a result of the uplift of the land.
In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Kyminkartano manor and a Swedish Bridgettine Monastery.
In 1889, Russian Emperor Alexander III decided to build a grand cottage on the banks of the river, where the entire imperial family would stay during summer visits.
Today the rapids are named after the former owner, Mårten Eriksson Lång (17th century).
Langinkoski National Urban Park was declared a nature reserve in 1960.
In summer the area functions as an open-air museum (paid admission).
In winter, museum activities are closed, but access is open to the public.
Thanks for watching.

PS:

There is a short cinematic film at the end, i like to call it “Winter’s exit“.
