Welcome back dear scene walker.
It’s Sunday and so the sun is shining to brighten up the day.
I wanted to be in a quiet place and the city of Loviisa came to my mind.
Today is July 23 in 2023, what a coincidence.
It’s quite warm (22°c), but nothing unusual for this time of year.
The area we walk in is called “Garnison”.
If we go back 300 years, we see that the Swedes were building a military fortress nearby.
Many soldiers would have been stationed in this area, hence the name Garnison.
However, the fortress was never completed as armies from the east closed in.
The city of Porvoo, which is only 40 km to the west, would become the next Swedish stronghold against the Russian Empire.
Fortunately for us today, all those military problems are a thing of the past.
The city of Loviisa has become a great little town on the coast of the Gulf of Finland.
Thanks for being here, i wanted to take a quiet walk and i think we succeeded.
Have a great week and hopefully see you next time.
~Sevy
