Sightseeing Walk in New Helsinki, Finland
3D Audio 4K UHD
Hello, welcome to a new scene.
I hope you’re feeling well, it seems to be quite windy, but will you walk with me?
The audio is recorded in 3D stereo to capture the sounds as your ears would.
It’s recommended to listen with headphones
We are walking in the new Arabianranta district.
It is part of the greater Toukola region.
A home for 10,000 people, a workplace for 5,000 and a campus for 6,000 students.
Arabianranta translates to the “shore of Arabia”.
The area has been one of Helsinki’s most significant construction sites.
Planning already started in the early 1990s.
Construction on Arabianranta began in the spring of 2000.
1-2% of the cost price has been reserved for art.
There are works of art in stairwells, courtyards and parks.
The apartment sizes vary from one-bedroom flats to large family apartments.
The name Arabia is derived from a porcelain factory “ARABIA” (1873) that used to operate in this region.
However, its roots go back further, with the first mentions dating back to 1751.
Streets are named with reference to Africa and Asian countries.
Today, Arabianranta is still being developed and high-rise construction is planned in the near future.
Thank you for joining.
Enjoy your walk and hopefully see you in the next scene.
Together we learn, explore and walk through the scenes
