Keinukallio, Finland ☁️ Walking in Artificial Snow
4K UHD
Good evening, welcome (back) to Keinukallio. This time the place is turned into a winter landscape.
Today is Monday, 6 December, which means it’s the independence day celebration in Finland.
A really cold day as well, with a temperature of -17°c, the winter cold has come early even for Southern Finland.
Keinukallio is a wonderful sports outdoor park for cross country skiing in winter.
Snow is already being made in November to create the first ski tracks of the season.
Finland is a winter country, which means winter activities are plentyful.
All over the country it’s possible to find many ski resorts.
If the winter cold persists for months, the lakes make for a great cross country ski area as well.
Many cities also provide outdoor ice skating rigs for free. (though, own skates are required)
It’s no wonder ice hockey is the most popular sport in Finland.
Having won 3 gold medals on the IIHF World Championships and continuously ranking the top 5, year after year.
Finland is not only good at ice hockey, other sports include: Nordic skiing, Dog sledding, Nordic skating, Ski jumping, etc.
A winter without snow is like a summer without sun. luckily artificial snow is nothing new to the Finns.
Each ski resort is well prepared to create artificial snow. Even with natural snowfall.
I always find it fascinating to look at artificial snow cannons. It makes for a fun walk around them!
I hope to see you back in the next scene (or one of my previous scenes). Stay safe and take care of yourself.
